How to install PocketCHAT? |
|
Download appropriate PocketCHAT setup file. You can find processor's
model of your Pocket PC on support pages. Connect
Pocket PC with your desktop PC. Run setup file. Setup program will
automaticly run.
Select destination directory, click OK. When you see "Install 'Smartsoft
PocketCHAT' using the default application install directory?" message
choose Yes button. Setup program will copy files to Pocket PC.
When you see 'Application Downloading Complete' message box press OK
and then Setup will be complete.
If you see 'Confirm File Replace' message box on Pocket PC screen,
choose Yes or Yes To All.
Note: If you see 'Smartsoft PocketCHAT does not support the connected
device type. Application Manager will make the application available for
installation when a supported device type is connected.' message, it
means your setup file's CPU type is wrong. Learn the right CPU type,
download it and re-install. |

How to uninstall PocketCHAT? |
|
Connect your Pocket PC with your desktop PC. Open the Microsoft ActiveSync.
Select Add/Remove programs in Tools menu. Select Smartsoft
PocketCHAT and click the Remove button. Software automaticly
remove the program.

Open the Setting in Pocket PC. Click the System tab button. Run
the Remove Programs. Select Smartsoft PocketCHAT and clik the Remove
button. |

Upgrading PocketCHAT to newer version |
|
To upgrade PocketCHAT to newer version, un-install the current version from
your Pocket PC. After this, install newer version. Your settings will
not lost. |

| Connecting |
|
Connecting a server |
|
Select or enter the IRC server address. You can load all avaible servers
list. Loading Server list, check 'Load Server List on start up' option.
Generally IRC servers use port 6667 or 6668. If you have connection
problems, you can try other port number between 6661-6669.
If you don't know your server's connection password, you must blank the password
text area. This option for private IRC servers. Don't forget that this
password is not Nickname password, just connection password.
You must fill the all textbox. Otherwise PocketCHAT will not connect the
server. |

Disconnection from a server |
|
To disconnect from the server, open the Command menu, select the Disconnect
in Server menu. You can also disconnect the server usig Quit in
Command menu.
You should Quit option, if Disconnect option doesn't work.
Sometimes servers can't response to the client (like LAG). |

| Channels |
|
Joining a channel |
|
To join a channel, type '/J #ChannelName' or '/Join #ChannelName'.
If you use some key text after the command text you join the channel with
this key text.
You can also join the channel with channel list option. But retrieving
channel list may take 3-4 mins. |

|
Parting a channel |
|
For part the channel click the Remove button in channel chat screen.
-Or-
Using '/P #ChannelName :reason' or '/Part #ChannelName :reason'.
Reason is optional option. |

Getting channel list |
|
Open the Command menu, select the List in Channel menu.
Click the Get List button. Retrieving channel list may take 3-4 mins. for this
reason, i recommended to you don't do anything until retrieving list is
complete. |

Changing channel topic |
|
Type '/TOPIC #ChannelName :newTopic'. There are no shortcut yet. It may
newer version of PocketCHAT. |

| Users |
|
Using 'User' menu |
|
Use the User menu in Command menu for changing mode any user's
mode or retrieving user information with WHOIS command.
If you are Channel Operator you can change other user's mode. You can
give/take Op or Voice. You can Kick or Ban users. |

|
Inviting a user |
|
Type '/INVITE Nickname #ChannelName' command. |
|
|
|
Sending private message to user |
|
If you're in a channel, double click the user. Private chat
screen will open. You can chat with the user by using this screen.
-or-
If the user is not in channel, you can send private message by using '/MSG
Nickname :message' command. When the user reply you, private chat
screen will add itself the screens list. |

Changing nick name |
|
Type '/NICK newNickname' command. |
|

| Other |
|
Hiding/Showing user list |
|
If you on a channel you can hide the user list by using 'Hide/Show user list'
opiton in View menu. If you change the currect chat screen, user list
will automaticly open if chat screen is a channel. |

Clearing screen |
|
You can clear the active session chat screen by using Clear option in View
menu. |
